UMTS for Dummies

Windows XP has multiple methods for reaching dialup settings, and your screen shots may vary slightly from those shown below because XP allows users to customize screen settings.

Following parameters are valid for Wind Italy:

Operator: Wind

APN Code: internet.wind

Telephonnr: *99# or *99***1#

For Samsung: *99**1*1#

For SonyEriccson: *99**1*9#

Insert the following AT+CGDCONT string into your dialing scripts to configure your phone for the proper APN (Access Point Name):

+cgdcont=1,"IP","internet.wind"

For SonyEricsson: +cgdcont=9,"IP","internet.wind"

The procedure is the same for all the operators worldwide and only the parameters may change.

1.Log on to the host computer as Administrator or as Owner.

2.Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

Going back to the network connections screen (via control panel) you should have an icon for a new connection.

You dial up to this connection by double-clicking or by right clicking and selecting 'connect'.

A successful connection is made after your computer is registered on the network (you should see a sequence of confirmation messages on the screen.) If the connection fails, the most likely cause is that one of more of the parameters you entered is incorrect.

The phone number, username and password and the cdgcont settings are very easy to mis-type, so check them carefully.

Activating the "Mega no Limit" option on Wind:

To activate by yourself the "Mega no Limit" option on your Wind SIM card,

please do the following:

1) Send an SMS with following text to the number 4533: MEGA SI

You will receive an SMS to confirm that your activation is in progress:

"Gentile Cliente, grazie per la Sua richiesta. A breve riceverà un SMS di conferma dell'avvenuta attivazione di Mega No Limit. Info su www.155.it"

The option is not yet active!

2) When you receive following SMS, than the internet option will be active:

"Le abbiamo accreditato il bonus da utilizzare in 30 giorni per il traffico dati. Per conoscere il credito disponibile acceda a www.155.it o chiami il 4242“

Please remember that the option will be renewed after 30 days. If you wish to use it only for 30 days, just send an SMS with the text "MEGA NO" to the number 4533 right after activation.

The option will be terminated on the first available expiring date (30 days after activation)
